Walk & Talk Therapy
“The clearest way into the universe is through a forest wilderness.” - John Muir
Ecotherapy acknowledges our interdependence with the web of life. Sometimes our mental health is affected by disconnection from nature and global environmental concerns like climate change. My many years of experience as an outdoor educator have shown me the benefits of nature in cultivating mindfulness of the present moment. Nature helps us focus attention, increase sensory awareness, and see things from a new perspective. The practice of “forest bathing,” developed in Japan during the 1980s, has become a cornerstone of preventive health care and healing in Japanese medicine. Weather permitting and with client interest I conduct walk and talk therapy sessions in Stanley Park in order to take advantage of this healing power of nature. https://time.com/5259602/japanese-forest-bathing/ |
